A coleção do Centro Cultural da Caloura resulta de uma vida dedicada à criação artística e ao intercâmbio cultural do seu fundador, Tomaz Borba Vieira. Reúne obras que vão do século XVII à contemporaneidade, abrangendo diversos suportes, como pintura, escultura, fotografia e serigrafia.

The collection of the Centro Cultural da Caloura stems from a lifetime dedicated to artistic creation and cultural exchange by its founder, Tomaz Borba Vieira. It brings together works ranging from the 17th century to the present, encompassing a wide variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography and silkscreen printing.

Antes do mito, da santidade e dos altares, existiu uma mãe.

Guardada por discípulos que procuram moldar as suas memórias para construir uma narrativa sagrada, Maria decide quebrar o silêncio para contar a sua verdade. Na voz de uma mulher profundamente marcada pela dor, pelo luto e pela incompreensão face ao destino trágico do filho, a peça explora o custo humano do sacrifício e da alienação. Esta é a história da mulher a quem o mundo se esqueceu de perguntar.

Numa interpretação de Margarida Benevides, Maria assinala a sua primeira experiência num monólogo a solo, onde se entrega inteiramente à força da palavra e à intimidade com o público.

Before the myth, the sainthood and the altars, there was a mother.

Kept by disciples who seek to shape her memories in order to construct a sacred narrative, Maria decides to break her silence and tell her truth. Through the voice of a woman deeply marked by grief, loss and incomprehension in the face of her son’s tragic fate, the play explores the human cost of sacrifice and alienation. This is the story of the woman whom the world forgot to ask.

Performed by Margarida Benevides, Maria marks her first experience in a solo monologue, in which she gives herself entirely to the power of the spoken word and to the intimacy of the encounter with the audience.
